Teen Arrested for Robbing Disabled Woman

According to the Seattle PI:

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy Tuesday night after a 64-year-old woman was robbed of her purse, walker and medication in Columbia City, the police department says.

The woman was walking near the intersection of Rainier Avenue South and South Andover Street after picking up a prescription medication from a pharmacy, reports say. Three young men followed her from behind. They snatched her purse, walker and bag of medication and shoved her. The woman was able to remain upright, but the teens ran off laughing, reports say.

Three witnesses chased after the attackers and found one of them at Lake People Park on 31st Avenue South. They held him until police arrived, according to the police department.

Officers recovered some of the victim’s belongings near the scene and returned them. The other two teens remain at large.

The 16-year-old was booked into the Youth Service Center for investigation of robbery.
