If you’re anything like me, the National Night Out Against Crime tends to sneak up and catch you with little time to prep or organize. If so, it’s time to start planning now. This year marks the 31st year where neighbors organize block parties around the country in effort to get to know each other, strengthen communities, and take a stand against crime. In short: neighbors who know each other look out for each other.
Registration just opened up for the 2014 event which will be taking place on Tuesday, August 5th. Head over to the SPD’s registration page for all the details on how to set up an event.
Also: I am thinking about a maybe going for a bigger Night Out event for all of us sandwiched between Rainier and MLK (kinda Edmunds-ish to Hudson-ish…with an open invite to anyone else close by)…maybe trying to block 37th from Edmunds to Hudson? Anyone interested in helping out (or taking it on)? Let me know…far too many of us don’t know each other.
