Armed Robbery Near Light Rail

Multiple news sources are reporting on last night’s armed robbery near the Columbia City light rail station. Michael Hawthorne from Komo offers these details:

The Seattle Police Department is looking for two men suspected of firing shots into the air after robbing multiple light-rail passengers — one a 13-year-old girl — at gunpoint Tuesday night.

According to police, the victims all got off the light rail at the Columbia City Station around 10:15 p.m.

The suspects, who had their T-shirts pulled up over their faces, reportedly came up behind two of the victims — a 13-year-old girl and 21-year-old woman — in the 5000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, showed their guns and took the victims’ purses.

The men confronted the third victim — a 50-year-old man on his cellphone — on South Dawson Street, according to police. The victim believed the suspect’s gun was fake and chided the men for interrupting his phone call.

According to police, the men ran to a silver car with large chrome rims parked at 30th Avenue South and South Dawson Street and fired two shots into the air before driving away.

Officers and robbery detectives responded to the scene but were unable to find the men.
